Timeless Alleys Bazar by Shan Amrohvi (18x24 Inches)

It is not always easy to find a small painting that holds an entire city within it. That's what "Timeless Alleys Bazar" by Pakistani artist Shan Amrohvi does. This is a medium 18 x 24 inch acrylic on canvas. This horizontal piece is pure memory, texture and light that once brought the soul of old Karachi into a collector's home.

This original painting is SOLD OUT. This page is for archival and reference.

The Story and Visual Flow

At first glance you are looking down from above into a dense, timeless cluster of bazar alleys. In the center, a chaotic, beautiful jumble of rooftops, stalls and houses tumbles together, painted with thick, broken strokes of black, white, burnt sienna, turquoise blue and hints of bright red and orange, like awnings, signs and life spilling out. You can almost see the narrow lanes winding between them, full of stories.

Above this cluster, the sky opens into a vast, deep, electric royal blue, bold, flat and modern, contrasting beautifully with the textured chaos below. On the right, a soft wash of golden yellow drips down like sunlight hitting a tall, distant building. The entire foreground is a sweeping, luminous golden field, scraped and layered with palette knife marks in ochre, white and sand, like a sun-baked street or open maidan leading you into the bazar. It feels both abstract and instantly familiar, a dream of the old city you have walked through a hundred times but never seen like this.

Why Acrylic on Canvas Works So Well Here

Acrylic is perfect for this timeless, abstract feeling. Shan Amrohvi uses its versatility brilliantly, thick, heavy impasto for the central bazar cluster so you can see every scrape, every layered rooftop built up like real stone and tin, while the golden foreground is kept smooth and washed, and the blue sky is applied flat and bold. The contrast of textured chaos and calm, empty space is masterful. The painting feels like a memory, layers of paint over paint, just like layers of history in these old alleys. It rewards you the closer you look, revealing tiny white domes, blue tarps and golden lights hidden within.

A Piece That Found Its Home

At 18x24 inches, Timeless Alleys Bazar was a perfect collector's piece for a modern living room, office or study, bringing a sense of heritage and abstract beauty into any interior. Its stunning palette of deep royal blue, antique gold and earthy bazar tones was both contemporary and deeply nostalgic. Though this original is now part of a private collection, it remains a beautiful example of Shan Amrohvi's signature timeless alley and cityscape series.

This was a 100% hand-painted original artwork by Shan Amrohvi, not a print, signed by the artist at bottom right.
