The Action and Energy of Polo Sport
Polo is the sport of kings, and Mashkoor Raza loves to paint horses and sports action. In this painting he captures a fleeting moment on the field. The polo rider is dressed in a red helmet and a bright yellow shirt and is holding a long polo mallet stick.
The artist does not draw simple still lines. His brushstrokes are quick and angular, showing the horse galloping with power. The bright pink and green in the background look like speed blur as the rider moves across the ground. It gives you the feeling of being at a real polo match in Lahore or Gilgit.
Colorful Shades Used on Canvas
The artist made the shapes stand out with rich oil paints:
- Bright Pink and Red: Pink patches create a cool modern background feel with deep red picking out the horse and the player helmet.
- Chrome Yellow: The rider shirt is a warm yellow, casting sunshine into the central figure.
- Emerald Green: The horse shape jumps out sharply from the pink background with the help of the rich green strokes.
- Deep Black Lines: Horse head, reins and polo stick are drawn with dark outline strokes.
- Cream and White Ground: Neutral background tones balance the bright artwork and are easy on the eye.
