Description

Four Women Abstract Painting by Farrukh Shahab (40x48 Inches) - Sold Out

It is not always easy to find an abstract painting of women that feels like a memory etched in glass, fragile, ghostly and unbreakable at once. That's what "Four Women Abstract Painting" by Pakistani artist Farrukh Shahab does. This is a 40 x 48 inches oil on canvas, a large, almost square, powerfully modernist gathering. This masterpiece is pure line, translucent white and muted whispers of color that once brought a haunting, gallery-grade, deeply contemporary presence into a collector's space. This original has found its home.

The Story and Visual Flow

At first glance you see four women standing close, not posing, just existing, like figures behind a rain-streaked window, like women in a dream you almost remember. Their bodies are not solid, they are made of scratchy, hurried, nervous black lines, architectural grids, cross-hatching, as if the artist tried to cage them and they kept dissolving. White is their skin, but white that is dirty, layered, stained with history, with touches of pale blue on shoulders, violet on thighs, yellow on chins, pink blush on cheeks.

You move from left to right and each one tells a different silence, the first curvy and turned, hand near her ear listening, the second taller, face upturned, blue shoulder glowing, the third veiled, eyes distant, purple and orange at her neck like a hidden dupatta, the fourth with arm raised, defiant, exhausted, her face a blur of pink and blue. No eyes stare at you clearly, they are smudged, erased, re-drawn. Black horizontal wires cut across their bodies, like barbed wire, like memory lines, like the bars of time. The background is black night, making their white ghost-forms float. The paint is thin, scratched, scraped, stained, not thick like his Sufi fakirs, here it is breathy, abstract, almost drawing. You feel the loneliness of standing together, close but alone.

Why Oil on Canvas Works So Well Here

Oil on canvas is perfect for this ghost-sisterhood's story. Farrukh Shahab uses a dry, sketchy, semi-abstract oil technique, letting canvas texture show through, letting lines dominate over color, letting white become transparent. The large 40x48 inch format gives these four life-size ghosts room to stand together monumentally yet vulnerably. Unlike oil on wood which holds heavy impasto, canvas allows this washed, stained, scraped, almost charcoal-like modern abstract language, where blue and purple hints bleed into white like bruises. Only original oil on canvas can deliver this delicate, layered, museum-quality modernism where drawing and painting merge, where women are present and absent at the same time.

A Piece for Your Home and Heart

At 40x48 inches, Four Women Abstract Painting was a bold, modern, contemplative statement, perfect for a living room, minimalist bedroom, modern office, art studio or gallery wall, bringing quiet feminine power, modernist sophistication and emotional depth. Perfect for lovers of Farrukh Shahab abstract women, white women figures, group women art, modern figurative, sketchy abstract, contemporary Pakistani art and minimalist figurative. It spoke of womanhood as memory, of togetherness as fragility, of white as all colors hidden. Its muted palette of off-white, grey, black, soft blue, violet, yellow and faded pink is sophisticated, calm and deeply artistic, creating a striking, intellectual focal point on white, light grey or concrete walls. A painting that made you whisper, not shout.

This was a 100% hand-painted original artwork by Farrukh Shahab, not a print, now in a private collection. Similar commission available on request with expert framing and certificate of authenticity.
